The Fashion Sampling Process: What Happens Before Bulk Production?
A garment may look perfect in a sketch, but bringing that design to life requires more than simply cutting and sewing fabric. Sampling is the stage where a design is tested, refined, and prepared for production.

1. Design & Tech Pack Finalization
Before sampling begins, the design details need to be clearly defined. Measurements, fabric, construction details, trims, finishing and other specifications are documented in a tech pack.
2. Pattern & Sample Development
The pattern is created based on the approved specifications, and the first sample is constructed using the selected fabric or a suitable sample fabric.
3. Fitting & Evaluation
The sample is assessed for fit, proportions, construction, comfort, and how well the physical garment matches the original design.
4. Revisions
Not every first sample is production-ready. Adjustments may be needed to the measurements, fit, construction, fabric placement, or finishing. These changes are made and another sample may be developed where necessary.
5. Final Approval
Once the sample meets the required standard, it becomes the reference for bulk production. This helps ensure that the final garments are made consistently and according to the approved design.
